A friend and I were pondering what a Wailord would look like in the Dreamworld, as human sized Pokémon like Zoroark or Mewtwo take up alot of the screen...
not quite as much blue screen as we were first thinking, but that's still alot... |

First update of the year... in march.... *ahem*
Anyhow, since the last update I've actually chosen what to do for my dissertation/project thingy. (AKA my supervisor telling me what I'm going to do...)
It's a Sensitive Artificial Listener, or SAL. So far I've gotten it handling text input and output. Although for some reason it refuses to loop properly so I'm planning to make a GUI (Graphical User Interface) for it (aka a pretty window thingy) which should make it behave. (event programming ftw)
Next will be the speech synthesis (making the computer talk.) Hopefully it won't sound too much like Microsoft Sam. If you don't know what that is go to the control panel, click on "speech" and have some fun.
Anyhow, gaming wise I've finished story mode in Sonic Unleashed (those night levels define the word tedious), beaten the Battle Tycoon once (diamond) and pre ordered Black Knight. (and started bugging the guys at Game about platinum.) |

Well Christmas was good. Then my computer decided to have a total meltdown on Saturday. So I've had to reformat the thing... :(
So far I've reinstalled all the drivers I can think of and basic apps. I still need to reinstall some of the programming IDEs and media creation tools, as well as my webcam (I'm sure the disk is around here somewhere) |

| 3D Modelling & Animation - Printer Cartridge? |

Yes, a printer cartridge. I modelled it from just a box, and extruding the various bumps on it's surface. Each section was then assigned texture IDs so that multiple textures could be applied from one. (You can only apply one material to one object, so I had to make a material with multiple textures in it.) I'll get another render later to show the textures clearer.

| 3rd Year of uni begins |

I know I haven't updated in a while, but here's what's been going on recently...
I've started my final year of uni this week and still have no idea what to do for my dissertation. ^_^
As for my other coursework, I've got to make a trailer and a .... well trailer...
As for home, my 360 has taken ill and is currently in Frankfurt being repaired. For some reason nothing was showing up on the screen.
Other recent breakages:
*Modem - Our old modem couldn't handle the firmware update and so was running slower than dial up, so Virgin had to replace it.
*Dish Washer - The waste pump gave up and isn't worth fixing...
*My bed - Apart from sinking into the mattress whenever I lay on it, the frame was slightly broken so i was sleeping on a slight slant, so I got a new one. |

If you're using the Zone Alarm firewall with XP, then you'll probably have already have found this out (after ringing every helpline you can think of).
The geniuses at microshite decided to make their latest windows update block all internet access unless the firewall is turned down to medium protection.
Great one guys. I love viruses... |

...Is over for me this semester. ^_^
Both of my papers had to be reprinted just as we entered the exam room. One had a question amended (due to it having not been taught) whilst the other had "a major typographical error". (We suspect that they'd printed the answers on the paper...)
In other news, Game have discontinued pre-owned for Xbox and Game Cube, so I managed to grab Pokémon XD for half of the pre-owned price. (They were kind enough to dig it out of the store room.)
As for other games since my last update, I can be found on any of the following:
Pokémon Battle Revolution (Wii)
Pokémon Diamond (DS)
Yu-Gi-Oh World Championship 2008 (DS)
and occasionally Forza Motorsport (Xbox 360)
I've pre-ordered Brawl (due out at the end of this month) and the 360 version of Soul Calibur IV (release is 1st August according to Game's pre-order list) so I'll should be on them soon enough...
